About Us

 Gooden Hill Missionary Baptist Church was organized in 1875 under the leadership of Rev. W. T. Thomas. He pastured until his death.

He was  succeeded by Rev. Robertson. He served for a number of years.

Rev. Marshall Cleveland, Sr. became pastor and served for a number of years.

Rev. Willie Horns became pastor and served until his death.

Rev. Grant Singelton became pastor and served until his death.

Rev. Marshall Cleveland Jr. became pastor and served until he resigned.

In 1942 under the leadership of Rev. J. E. Raine the church was repaired. Rev. Raine served as from 1942 until his death in 1947.

Rev. W. W Beckham then became pastor and served until his death two years later.

In 1949 Rev. S. A. Williams became pastor. In 1n 1968, ninety three years since the church was organized under Rev. S. A. Williams leadership, the church started to rebuild. He served until his death.

For several years the church was without a pastor. In 1970 Rev. A. B. Williams became pastor. Under his leadership the church built an Educational Department, eight class rooms and an auditorium. Due to health problems, Rev. Williams resigned the 2nd Sunday in June 1994.

That same day, Rev. Billy Dixon was voted in as pastor. He served one month and resigned.

Rev. Tony Campbell was appointed to preside until a pastor was elected. On January 8, 1996, Rev. Tony Campbell was elected as pastor. Under his leadership the ceiling of the sanctary was lowered in a v-shape and moved the men's bathroom to the rear. Rev. Campbell resigned in May of 1996.

On Sept, 15th, 1996 Rev. Bobby Johnson became pastor. Under his leadership a sound room have been added. The Kitchen remodeled, floors, ceiling redone. The Metal roof was installed, all the indebtedness paid off.
